Day 8: Snowmobiles in Snaefellsnes – Borgarnes – Reykjavik

First thing in the morning, we went to Arnartstapi to get the snowmobile tickets we'd ordered the previous day by phone. Two tickets for a one hour ride on one snowmobile (one driver and one passenger) cost about US$ 170.
After buying the tickets at the restaurant at the entrance to Arnartstapi, we had to drive ourselves to the snowmobile starting point. This point is about 7km from the beginning of the mountain slope and the route isn't complicated if you drive slowly and surely. We received helmets and snowsuits and were on our way – an incredible experience we highly recommend to the brave of heart!!!! You can also go up the hill on a snowcat – an open snow vehicle that takes a number of people and goes on the same route as the snowmobiles.

From there we continued on our way to Reykjavik through Borgarnes. Our original plan was to travel in the direction of Reykholt, Hraunfossar Falls and the village of Husafell.
We simply decided on Reykjavik as our destination – "The Big City".
